The history of this family is a tragic one, with two infant deaths, Sarah possibly dying in childbirth, and Emanuel following her in death the next year.<\/p>\n

Emanuel Rosenthal<\/b>\u00a0unknown – 1885<\/p>\n

Relationship: Husband<\/p>\n

Inscription: Emanuel Rosenthal, Died as Corvallis Or. July 22, 1885 Tamus 19, 5645. Aged 33 Years. May God have mercy on his soul. Hebrew inscription on reverse side<\/p>\n

Stone and Base Material: Marble obelisk. By 2015 this monument was in pieces. It was restored in 2017 by Sally Donovan and Bruce Howard through a grant from the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries <\/i>and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. <\/i><\/p>\n

Iconography: 3-link-chain (no lettering) encircled as in a medallion with scroll work.<\/p>\n

Sarah Rosenthal<\/strong>\u00a01856 – 1884<\/p>\n

Relationship: Mother<\/p>\n

Inscription: In Memory of SARAH, Beloved wife of E. Rosenthal, and Daughter of L. G. & A. Kline. A happier lot than ours, and larger light surrounds thee there. Hebrew inscription on opposite side.\u00a0The memorial on the far right is inscribed “SARAH, our Darling Sister. Dead but not forgotten.”<\/p>\n

Iconography: A statue at the center of the four columns is missing. The pedestals and urns were restored in 2017 and 2018 by Sally Donovan and Bruce Howard through two grants from the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.<\/i><\/p>\n
