We need your help to restore a National Historic site in Albany
WHEN: Sundays, September 11 & 25 from 10:00am to 1:00pm
WHERE: Albany Hebrew Cemetery, aka Waverly Jewish Cemetery
3165 SE Salem Ave, Albany, Oregon
Listed on the National Historic Register as the only Jewish cemetery between Portland and Eugene when it was established in1877.
WHAT: Headstone cleaning days, held in conjunction with an Oregon State Grant, the funds of which will be used to pay for restoration of monuments in the cemetery that need professional attention.
Come for any amount of time! Your volunteer hours will count towards our receiving the needed funding. Cleaning supplies and experienced guidance for care of the stones will be provided. Children must be accompanied by adults at all times. Suggested items to bring: work gloves or latex gloves, water bottle, snacks/lunch, kneeling pad or folding chair.
